# Subscriptions

## Emission Factor Library Subscriptions

Emission factor libraries can be free or subscription-based. Manage subscriptions in **Settings → Carbon → Configuration → General**.

### Subscribing to a library

Select **Subscribe** for a paid library. Its status changes to **Pending**. The library remains unavailable while we process the request.

During this period, you cannot select the library in Emission Factor Groups, Rules, or Inventory Templates. The library toggle also remains disabled.

### Subscription statuses

| Status         | Description                                                                                       |
| -------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Pending**    | Your subscription request is being processed. The library is unavailable.                         |
| **Subscribed** | Your subscription is active. The library is available and receives future factor updates.         |
| **Suspended**  | Your subscription has expired or been cancelled. You cannot use the library in new configuration. |

### When a subscription lapses

Existing configurations continue to work. This includes Emission Factor Groups, Rules, Inventory Templates, Inventory Items, calculations, reports, and disclosures.

Historical factors remain available for reporting and audit. While suspended, you cannot use the library in new configuration or update to newer factor versions. Renew your subscription to restore access and updates.
