# Scope 1

## Scope 1 emissions

Scope 1 covers direct greenhouse gas emissions from sources you own or control.

The emission occurs at a source that your organisation operates or controls.

Scope 1 does not include purchased electricity, heat, steam, or cooling. Report those emissions in Scope 2.

Value-chain emissions from suppliers and customers belong in Scope 3.

### Reporting Scope 1 emissions

Assign an activity to Scope 1 when your reporting boundary includes its emission source. Use consistent ownership and control criteria across your inventory.

Record the activity data that best represents the source. This often includes fuel use, process outputs, refrigerant top-ups, or land-management activity.
